The meeting comes amid reports of X’s sales team struggling to meet revenue targets and the presence of Steve Davis, CEO of The Boring Company and one of Elon Musk‘s key lieutenants, reviewing finances at X’s headquarters.Davis’s appearance has led some employees to fear more layoffs are on the horizon, with one source describing him as “the grim reaper who only shows up for bad things.”
During the meeting, Yaccarino focused on promoting live events on the platform and urged employees to discuss Musk’s x.AI chatbot, Grok, with advertisers. She also emphasised the company’s focus on video content, stating that it has been “definitely driving advertising.”
Walter Gilbert, X’s head of HR, announced plans for a more comprehensive promotion process that will include “lighter-weight check-ins throughout the year.” However, many employee questions regarding promotions raises, and equity remained unanswered, according to a source who attended the meeting.
Despite being in San Francisco, Elon Musk was absent from the all-hands meeting. Instead, several other directors joined Yaccarino, including Monique Pintarelli, head of advertising for the Americas, who revealed that over 50% of X’s revenue is now attributed to performance objectives, marking a significant shift from previous years.
While the meeting may not have provided employees with all the answers they were seeking, Yaccarino assured staff that these all-hands meetings will be held quarterly and that both she and Musk will be communicating with them soon.
