Child dies after reported drowning in Bridgeport

A young child died after a reported drowning in Bridgeport on Saturday night, officials said.Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, the Bridgeport Emergency Communications Center received a call of a possible drowning of an infant on Orland Street, according to Tiadora Josef, director of communications for the City of Bridgeport.The child was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, Josef said.The investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to Josef.“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends during this tragic time,” Josef said.No further information was available at this time.
