Nothing recently teased the launch of its upcoming smartphone – CMF Phone 1, which the company describes as “a wonderful entry point to our entire product ecosystem.” Going by the teaser, it is pretty clear that the upcoming phone won’t have the iconic Glyph interface which made the company’s first phone so appealing.
Instead, the CMF Phone 1 may have a plastic frame with at least one variant offering an orange coloured faux leather finish. Another interesting feature is that CMF seems to have carried over the volume knob-like physical button from its neckband and wireless earbuds case to the Phone 1. However, it is still not unknown if the button exists for aesthetic purposes or if it will be used for something else.
Nothing claims smartphone makers are “overlooking” the budget segment (phones under Rs 20,000) and that they are giving it their “full attention”, hinting that the CMF Phone 1 may come with some unique features.
Rumour has it that the CMF Phone 1 will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, the successor to the tried and tested Dimensity 7200 chipset we saw on several smartphones last year. Tipsters have also hinted that the phone will have a 6.67-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen and it will be available with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB storage.
It might run on Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14 out of the box and come with a microSD card slot. On the back, we might see a 50MP primary camera alongside a 50MP ultrawide sensor. All of this may be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.
The Nothing Phone (2a) is currently available for Rs 23,999 on Flipkart, so the CMF Phone 1 is expected to cost well below Rs 20,000. While nothing is official at the moment, a recent report by 91mobiles suggests the 6GB RAM and 128GB storage variant of the CMF Phone 1 may have a box price of Rs 19,999, with discounts reportedly bringing the effective price down to Rs 17,000.
