A Connecticut man is facing assault charges after allegedly stabbing a relative and attempting to stab another during a domestic dispute in Wallingford on Monday.Officers responded to a residence on Center Street around 12:34 p.m. Monday for a domestic dispute where a knife was used, according to Lt. Stephen S. Jaques Jr. of the Wallingford Police Department.Officers learned that 28-year-old Alan Munoz-Velez of Wallingford allegedly stabbed a male victim at the address, Jaques said.When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered Munoz-Velez in the backyard. According to Jaques, officers held Munoz-Velez at gunpoint and gave several commands. He was taken into custody without incident, Jaques said.After an initial investigation, officers allege that Munoz-Velez tried to stab a relative during a dispute that occurred in the driveway of the residence. During the dispute, another relative allegedly attempted to intervene and sustained a non-life threatening laceration to his right hand, according to Jaques.Munoz-Velez was charged with criminal attempt at first-degree assault, third-degree assault, tampering with physical evidence and breach of peace, Jaques said.He was held on a $100,000 surety bond, according to Jaques.The Wallingford Police Department’s Patrol and Detective Divisions are conducting the investigation.
