CT man killed after veering off road, rolling classic convertible over a retaining wall

A Connecticut man was killed after rolling his classic convertible off a retaining wall in Preston on Sunday morning.Troopers at Troop E in Montville received a report of a vehicle on its roof near 194 Middle Road around 9:34 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Connecticut State Police.Reporting troopers located a white 1965 convertible Ford Mustang. State police said the convertible top of the Mustang was open at the time of the collision.According to state police, a preliminary investigation alleged that the driver, identified as 60-year-old Kraig Bressette of Preston, was traveling north on Middle Road when he unexplainably drove into the northbound grassy roadside and onto a stone retaining wall. As the right tires of the Mustang drove off the retaining wall, the vehicle rolled over on its right side and landed on its roof, state police said.State police noted there was a five-foot drop from Middle Road to base of the retaining wall.Bressette was located “within the passage compartment on the vehicle,” state police said. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.The crash remains under investigation.
