CT smoke shops cited for selling to minors, illegal sales of marijuana

Two Norwalk smoke shops were cited and two people were arrested after police conducted search and seizure warrants on Friday.Members of the Norwalk Police Department‘s Special Services Division conducted the search and seizure warrants at two smoke shops located on Washington Street in Norwalk around 6:30 p.m. on Friday after receiving numerous complaints of vape and tobacco sales to minors, as well as illegal sales of marijuana and other items that contained high levels of THC, according to police.During the search at Sono One Stop, located at 83 Washington St., police reportedly seized 28 THC gummies (500 mg per bag), 50 pre-rolled THC blunt containers (five pieces each container), 26 Trinity Spinny THC vapes, 55 Cali D8 THC pre-rolls, 30 Hemp 8 THC D8 1g pre-rolls, nine Hemp 8 THC D8 1g pre-rolls, 34 Hemp 8 THC 1.5g pre-rolls, 44 illegal gummies THC/Hemp, 23 illegal THC vape cartridges/pens, 82 marijuana pre-rolls, 14 marijuana edibles, 34 THC vapes/cartridges, 24 cannabis flower packages and $328.00 U.S. currency, police said.Sono One Stop employee Evary L. Zorrilla Jr. of Norwalk was arrested and charged with illegal sale or manufacture of cannabis, possession of greater than 1.5 and less than five ounces of cannabis. He was also charged with two outstanding warrants for illegal sale of tobacco to a minor and was being held on a $1,050 bond, according to police.At Exotic Smoke Shop, located at 68A Washington St., police reportedly seized 273 THC vape products (register area), 211 THC gummies/edibles (register area), 166 THC Vape products (back room), 233 THC gummies/edibles (back room), 128 marijuana pouches (3.5g each), 14 marijuana containers (3.5g each), 25 pre-rolled joints (2.5g each), 18 pre-rolled joints (1.7g each), 42 pre-rolled joints (1g each), 12 pre-rolled joints (.05g each), as well as 78 pre-rolled joints (2g each), 83 pre-rolled joints (1g each), 10 pre-rolled joints (2.5g each), one pre-rolled joint (2.25g) and 163 marijuana pouches, all in the back room. Police also reportedly seized packaging material, $1,170 in U.S. currency and loose change, police said.Exotic Smoke Shop employee Barsha Sapkota of Norwalk was arrested and charged with possession of greater than 1.5 and less than five ounces of cannabis, use or possession of drug paraphernalia and sale of one kilogram or more of cannabis. She was being held on a $1,500 bond, according to police.
