State police troopers, a DMV officer and Hartford animal control all pitched in to assist a family of ducks that got stuck on Interstate 91 Monday.
The ducks, a mom and her babies, prompted multiple 911 calls from drivers on I-91 southbound in the area of exit 33, state police said in a release Thursday.
Troopers first responded around 3:47 p.m., moving the ducks off the roadway and enabling traffic to continue. But the ducks were unable to escape the area and returned to the roadway later. A DMV officer was first on the scene at that time and troopers arrived to stop traffic. They worked to usher the family across the roadway into some brush.
Hartford animal control was then called to remove the ducks and relocate them to a safe place.
State police offered a pun, noting “Traffic became fowled up in Hartford on Monday.”
