CT woman arrested in connection with hit-and-run crash involving teen on scooter

A Hartford woman faces charges after police allege she struck a teenager on a scooter last week and took off from the scene.Catherine Fryer, 26, has been charged with evading responsibility, risk of injury to a minor, operating under suspension, misuse of marker plate and insufficient insurance, according to Lt. Nicholas Reinert of the Manchester Police Department.Reinert said Fryer on Friday was driving a vehicle when she struck a 15-year-old boy on an electric scooter at the intersection of West Middle Turnpike and New State Road. The boy was on his way to school at the time and suffered injuries not considered life-threatening, according to Reinert.Police allege Fryer took off from the scene before officers arrived.According to Reinert, officers “through the community’s collaboration and support” were able to locate the evading vehicle and identify Fryer as the driver. She was arrested Sunday and was initially held on $100,000 bond.Fryer is scheduled to be arraigned in Manchester Superior Court on July 8.“The Manchester Police Department appreciates the community’s invaluable assistance in this case,” Reinert said.
