Two people were injured in a crash caused by an alleged drunk driver in South Windsor on Monday, police said.
Officers responded to the intersection of Ellington Road and Chapel Road in the evening hours on the report of a motor vehicle crash and learned that 25-year-old Amanda M. Staron of Portland ran a red light and hit another motorist, according to the South Windsor Police Department.
Police said the driver of the other vehicle and a passenger suffered injuries. It was not immediately clear if they went to the hospital or if Staron was injured as well.
According to police, Staron appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and was asked to take multiple field sobriety tests. Police said she failed the tests and was arrested at 9:45 p.m. on charges of operating under the influence, violation of a traffic control signal and drinking while driving.

Staron was taken into custody and later released on a $2,000 non-surety bond. She is scheduled to be arraigned in Manchester Superior Court on Sept. 9.
