Cybertip leads to arrest of CT man on child pornography charge

A Westport man was arrested last week after a cybertip led to authorities finding him with child pornography, police said.Brian Myers faces one count of third-degree possession of child pornography, according to the Westport Police Department.Westport detectives last Wednesday began investigating upon receiving a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that suggested a Westport resident was possibly in possession of child pornography, police said. The tip referenced “questionable search history on a shared computer” and identified Myers as the person likely responsible, according to police.Police said detectives went to Myers’ home last Friday and questioned him about the tip. He admitted to possessing images containing child pornography and turned over his cell phones and laptops to authorities, according to police.Detectives made a “cursory search” of the devices and found material suspected to be child porn.Myers was taken to the Westport Police Department and charged. He posted a $30,000 bond and is expected to face a judge on Friday in Stamford Superior Court.
