First responders are searching for two missing people who jumped off a boat late Monday night at Candlewood Lake in Danbury.Crews responded to the lake on Monday at 10:30 p.m. on the report of two people jumping off a boat in the area of City Island before going missing, according to the Danbury Fire Department.Search and rescue efforts included rescue boats with sonar and underwater imaging equipment as well as an air drone, fire officials said.Mutual aid dive teams from the Danbury and Brookfield as well as the Newtown Underwater Search and Rescue (NUSAR) and the Region Five Dive Team from Middlebury have assisted in the search.First responders from Sherman, Fairfield, the Candlewood Lake Authority and the Ball Pond Volunteer Fire Department also helped search the lake with assistance from The Salvation Army and Danbury Volunteers from Squad 19 and Squad 31.The search was suspended at 2:30 a.m. and was expected to resume on Tuesday morning, fire officials said.The state’s Department of Energy and Environmental Services has taken the lead on the investigation, according to fire officials.
