Man seriously injured in Bristol moped crash airlifted to hospital

A man was seriously injured in a moped crash in Bristol Saturday afternoon, police said.Officers responded to the crash at 4:34 p.m. and found that a man was driving a moped when he tried to round a curve in the road and ended up on the ground with his moped on top of him. He landed near a curb on Riverside Avenue and East Street, according to the Bristol Police Department. The first officers on scene immediately gave medical aid to the injured man until paramedics arrived. The man was then taken to a local hospital’s trauma unit via Lifestar and underwent surgery for “possible life threatening injuries,” police said.The man’s name had not been released as police were trying to locate his next of kin, the department said.The crash was still under investigation and the serious traffic accident reconstruction team responded to the scene.Officers were not able to find any witnesses to the crash.
