Moped rider transported to CT hospital via LifeStar after suffering ‘significant injuries’ in crash

A moped rider was transported to the Hartford Hospital via LifeStar on Monday afternoon after suffering ‘significant injuries’ in a crash in Torrington, police said.
Officers responded to a reported single vehicle crash at the 700 block of Norfolk Road around 2:50 p.m., according to the Torrington Police Department.
Police said a male said to be the sole operator of a moped was found on the scene with serious injuries and transported to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. The male was subsequently flown by LifeStar to Hartford Hospital “based on the extent of the injuries,” according to police.
The Torrington Police Department’s Accident Investigation Team responded to the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, police said. A section of the roadway was closed as police were conducting the ongoing investigation.
