Officials: Toddler died after drowning in children’s pool in Bridgeport

The death of a 3-year-old child found in a children’s pool in Bridgeport on Saturday night appears to be an accidental drowning, city officials said Monday.Around 8 p.m. on Saturday, the Bridgeport Police Department, Bridgeport Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services responded to multi-family home on Orland Street on a report of a 3-year-old child found unresponsive in a small 3-foot children’s pool, according to Tiadora Josef, director of public information for the City of Bridgeport.First responders immediately began CPR and other life-saving measures on the child, Josef said.The child was rushed to Bridgeport Hospital, where they were later pronounced dead, according to Josef.The Detective Bureau responded to the scene and took charge of the investigation, Josef said.According to Josef, it currently appears to be an accidental drowning.“The Bridgeport police offer our condolences to the family and friends for this tragic loss,” Josef said.
