Police: Five juveniles located in stolen vehicle after reported shoplifting at Southington CVS

Five juveniles are facing charges after they were located in a stolen car following a reported shoplifting incident at a CVS in Southington earlier this month, police said.On June 17, patrol officers were dispatched to the CVS at 326 Main St. around 12:48 a.m. on a report of an active shoplifting incident, according to the Southington Police Department.Officers learned that four males wearing masks had allegedly shoplifted items from the store and left the scene in a white Nissan sedan. Police said they were last seen traveling northbound on Main Street.Officers located the suspected vehicle parked at the Exxon Gas Station located at 682 Queen St. According to police, the vehicle was found occupied by five juveniles, who were all detained.A further investigation revealed that the vehicle, a white Nissan Altima, matched the registration of a motor vehicle reported stolen out of Bridgeport on June 16, police said.After reviewing CCTV footage, officers said they were able to verify all juveniles’ involvement in the shoplifting incident. As a result, all five males between the ages of 15 and 17 were placed under arrest, according to police.Juvenile No. 1 was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, third-degree larceny, sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. Juvenile No. 2 was charged with sixth-degree larceny, conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer. Juveniles No. 3 and 4 were each charged with sixth-degree larceny and conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, and Juvenile No. 5 was charged with conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny, police said.All five teens were issued juvenile summons, according to police. Each teen was released to respective guardians and appeared at Bridgeport Juvenile Court on June 21.
