Police investigating a spate of non-fatal shootings in New Haven

Police in New Haven are investigating two non-fatal shootings on Monday that come on the heels of two overnight shootings on Sunday.On Monday around 2:42 p.m., officers responded to the area of Plymouth and Grant Streets for the report of a person shot, according to the New Haven Police Department.Arriving officers located the victim, a 21-year-old New Haven man, police said. He was transported to Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.Police said a young child was also transported to the pediatric emergency department at Yale New Haven Hospital for an evaluation over concerns about his ears hurting from the gunshots. According to police, the child was not struck by gunfire.Officers at the scene reportedly located ballistic evidence and established a crime scene, police said.At 3 p.m., dispatchers received 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area of Sylvan Avenue and Greenwood Street.A short time later, a juvenile female gunshot victim walked into the pediatric emergency department of Yale New Haven Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.Police said officers located ballistic evidence in the area of the shooting.According to police, detectives responded to both scenes to interview the victims and conduct on-going investigations.Police are asking that anyone who may have witnessed the shootings or have information for investigators contact detectives at 203-946-6304 or through the department’s anonymous tip line at 866-888-TIPS (8477).The two shootings on Monday follow two overnight shootings on Sunday involving two victims who were shot multiple times.Around 12:42 p.m. on Sunday, officers were dispatched to a residence on Quinnipiac Avenue for a report of a person shot. Police learned that the victim, a 47-year-old New Haven resident, sustained several non-life-threatening gunshot wounds and was dropped off by a private car at Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment.Just over two hours later, police called to at the Saint Raphael Campus of Yale New Haven Hospital after a 34-year-old New Haven man was admitted with multiple gunshot wounds. According to police, his injuries were non-life-threatening.Police said officers were able to locate ballistic evidence of his shooting in the area of Willow Street and Mitchell Drive.According to police, there was no apparent connection to the two shootings on Sunday.
