The American Red Cross of Connecticut are hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil a newly renovated blood donation center in Connecticut, today, August 7, according to a statement.
The new location comes days after the Red Cross announced an emergency blood shortage on Monday, August 5, according to the statement. Tropical Storm Debby forced cancellations of blood drives across the Southeast, further complicating matters.
Donors looking to catch the ribbon-cutting can swing by the Farmington Headquarters at 209 Farmington Avenue at 2 p.m., according to the Red Cross. Tours of the facility will be available immediately after the ceremony.
