Two teens, one adult arrested in West Hartford for allegedly shooting pellets at people

Two teens and an adult were arrested following an incident in which a BB-type gun was allegedly used to shoot into a group of people, “striking both juvenile and adult victims,” West Hartford police said.The West Hartford Police Department said they learned of the incident at 1 p.m. Saturday when they received a complaint that an occupant of a black Mercedes Benz pointed a BB gun at an individual who was sitting outside the Whole Foods located at 50 Raymond Road.A short time later, the department received a complaint that the occupants of a black car “shot multiple people with pellets near the intersection of Bishop Road and Farmington Avenue,” police said. “One of the victims had reportedly been shot in the face. The victims suffered minor injuries, and were evaluated on scene by first responders.”The suspect vehicle, which had a stolen license plate, was found at the intersection of Park Road and Raymond Road, police said. Officers attempted a motor vehicle stop, but “the operator of the vehicle engaged police in pursuit,” police said.Department personnel then successfully deployed a tire deflation device, and took two juveniles and an adult into custody in the area of the 600 block of Willard Avenue in Newington, West Hartford police said. The apprehension was made with help from the Newington Police Department.West Hartford police said a “Surge XL gel blaster” was found in the car.Luis Ortiz-Perez, 18, of Berlin, was arrested and charged with 10 counts second-degree reckless endangerment, one of interfering with an officer, four counts of risk of injury to a child, one count of conspiracy to commit risk of injury to a child, seven counts third-degree assault, one count of conspiracy to commit third-degree assault, eight count of breach of peace and one count of conspiracy to commit breach of peace, police said.“We are extremely grateful that no one was seriously injured during this incident, and would like to thank the West Hartford Fire Department… and Newington Police Department for their assistance,” Capt.
