UConn football announced that kickoff time for its home opener against Merrimack on Saturday, Sept. 7 has been set for noon. The game will air on WFSB Channel 3 in Connecticut, and will be simulcast on WMAX, and streamed online through UConn+.It will be the Huskies’ second game of the season, with their opener coming on the road against Maryland Aug. 31 at noon.UConn welcomes Merrimack to Rentschler Field for a first-ever matchup between the schools. The Huskies have played at least one FCS opponent in each season since moving up to FBS in 2002 and is 20-2 in those games.Merrimack finished 5-6 overall last season, and 4-3 in the Northeast Conference.The Merrimack game will be the first of a six-game homestand for the Huskies that includes matchups with Duke, Florida Atlantic, Buffalo, Temple, Wake Forest, Rice and Georgia State.UConn will finish the season with three straight road games, against UAB, Syracuse and UMass.The Huskies finished 3-9 last season after posting six wins and reaching a bowl game in head coach Jim Mora’s first season in 2022.
