Weather delay halts third round of Travelers Championship with Kim, Bhatia tied for lead

CROMWELL – The Travelers Championship is experiencing a weather delay for the second day in a row.The TPC River Highlands course was cleared on Saturday after it was announced at 3:30 p.m. that the third round was suspended because of an incoming thunderstorm. With an estimated two hours and 20 minutes worth of golf remaining to complete the third round, the players were told to expect play to resume around 5:30 or 6 p.m.A storm halted the second round for more than three hours on Friday night before it was resumed and ultimately finished around 8:30 p.m.At the time of the delay, Akshay Bhatia and Tom Kim shared the lead at 14-under, though neither of them had gotten through the front nine.Cameron Young completed his 11-under 59, the first score below 60 on Tour since 2020 and only the 13th in Tour history, before the delay. His round, one shot shy of a Travelers Championship record, propelled him to the second spot on the leaderboard at 13-under when play was suspended.Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler and Collin Morikawa, three members of the U.S. Olympic team, were tied with Young at 13-under without yet finishing the front nine. Five players are just behind at 12-under.
